Sandra Gilliard

Sandra Deneise Gilliard was born in rural Berkeley County, South Carolina. In 1978, she graduated from Berkeley High School in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. She continued her education at Trident Technical College (TTC) Charleston, SC where she earned an Associate Degree in Business with emphasis on accounting in 1981. Prior completing her degree at TTC she was introduced to the community health center movement. In 1980 she began an internship at Franklin C. Fetter Family Health Center where later became a permanent employee as a bookkeeper. She was employed with Franklin C. Fetter Family Health Center for 11 years, during this time she became a middle manager in the finance department. In 1991 she joined the St. James-Santee Family Health Center as the Finance Director. In 2011 she was promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer at St. James-Santee Family Health Center and is currently serving. During her time at St. James-Santee Family Health Center she continued to advance her education receiving a Bachelor of Technology from Charleston Southern University Charleston South Carolina in 2002 and a Master of Business Administration in 2010. Her desire to help others was the catalyst that launched her into the community health center movement which accounts for over 40 years of service.  She is married and has three children residing in rural Awendaw, SC. She is active in her community and church and enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.
